Our Owner, Ronnie

From the young age of 6, Ronnie worked at his grandmother's restaurant and butcher shop, learning and perfecting the craft of burger making. In 2013, Ronnie continued the family burger business by opening his first burger joint, on Martha's Vineyard Island. Using his grandmother's signature recipes and mixing it with a modern day, 'create your own' concept, Fat Ronnie's Burger Bar has become a local favorite and tourist destination hot spot.

Our Story

The family burger business began in Harlem in 1972, with Ronnie's grandmother and her self-named burger joint called MAXINE'S. Maxine was the first black female union butcher in the country. From the 1950's into the early 2000's, Ronnie's family owned and operated a number of the top restaurants, bars and butcher shops in Harlem – Maxine's, Meat Masters, Twenty Two West, Dolls Bar, Jewels Bar to name a few. Ronnie opened his second location in Miami Beach in 2020 and New York City in 2026.
